It was sweltering hot. The grasses were taking the hue of burnt yellow. The smell from the odorous ash-pits, open drains, sweat of people muzzled together filled my senses with a feeling of desperation. I sat on the side of the window, as the heavily packed bus took its first right turn in its way - a way that led to my destination far away from home. Mixed with a feeling of belonging and not-belonging, I toughened my soul with inspiring thoughts - " The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.'. And this overwhelmingly strong desire to prove everyone wrong and succeed pushed me ahead while the sun glazed in all its splendor.
The winding roads carried my emotions along its maze path but was cut short by the now slowly forming droplets of perspiration on my forehead. I tried to divert my attention to the gradually changing scenery on the sideways. The trees had suddenly been lit up by a splash of color, as if the Gods had come down to Earth to perform the rites of nature with blazing flowers. My heart cried out to be a part of this natural celebration. This was something I had never seen. Nature appeared to be a performer at its best. Barren, arid landscape , almost a heath and then this bright yellow, orange, red grandiloquence; it was nothing but Nature's play at its best. However, the sun razed. And then there was this gusty wind followed by a splash of fresh rain. As the earth soaked the first drops in its thirst, the air was purified by the smell of wet earth. All senses nurtured its visual, olfactory, auditory, tactile perceptions in the glory of the sky playing its pleasurable love with the earth.
What a joy this sudden rain brought on a sun-blanched day. My soul reconnected with its elemental nature and cried " This is where I belong, this is me, I would be nowhere else."
